Hi Everyone we have great news! We have an important speaker for the February meeting, but the meeting date has changed to Tuesday, Feb 13th.
Nosema has been killing hives in Virginia – it’s “the other one,” Nosema cerana, most of us (including me) know very little about, and Keith Tignor of the Virginia State Beekeepers has issued a warning. So we are pleased to have Mike Sandridge, from Sandridge and Sons Honey, give us an in-depth presentation on this fairly unknown bee killer. Mike lost over 50 hives (around 50%) and had Keith investigate. He is currently informing most of the Central Valley groups. Please attend.
We will also talk about getting ready for spring, and have a question and answer session at the end. Please remember that we asked for input from all of you on making the Association better for you. So please do one of the following: fill out this suggestion/comment form, email us, or post in our RPBBA Discussion Group on Facebook. If you’ve not joined RPBBA Discussion Group on Facebook, please do – it’s our interactive page for information, questions and beekeeping help.
Remember, no meeting the second Monday in February, instead, the meeting has been moved to Feb 13 at Rockwood Nature Center. Our club social will start at 6:00pm with the meeting starting at 6:45pm.
