Affiliate Professor, Department of Horticulture, Oregon State University


  • 40+ years teaching, apiculture research and extension service

  • Cornell (1967-70)

  • University of Maryland, College Park (1970-1981)

  • University of Delaware (1981-2009).

In Bolivia, he keeps Africanized bees and teaches beekeeping in Spanish. [En Bolivia, mantiene abejas africanizadas y enseña apicultura en español.] In Oregon, he keeps 5 backyard colonies of European bees. He teaches Bee Short Courses and gives lectures to various bee clubs and state organizations. Over the last 50 years, he has served in numerous leadership roles in the Eastern Apicultural Society (EAS) and is currently the Advisor for EAS Master Beekeeper program.
